The Evaluation for Training Program of the Health Workers on Health Centers in Korea


Abstract
This is an evaluation for trained health workers of the health centers in Korea during the last 3 years, from the later part of 1962 to the end of 1964, who have been trained by NIH under the inservice traning project of two to three months courses.
The results were summarized by the training department, NIH, through official information form all health centers as follows:
1. The total number of trained persons was 1,058 towards the expected goal of 1,425 durting that period.
2. These trained health workers were composed of 285 physicians, 330 public health nurses, 239 sanitary assistants, 102 laboratory technicians and 102 X-ray technicians who were working at health centers.
3. A total number of 306 persons have resigned form the health centers which is approximately 29.0% of the 1,058 trained health workers. Resignations were due to various personal and official reasons.
4. Categorically, 51.6% out of 285 trained physicians, 27.2% of trained public health nurses, 18.4% of trained sanitary assistants, 13.7% of trained laboratory techimcians and 10.8% of X-ray technicians have resigned from the health centers after having been trained at NIH during the last 3 years. The training program was supported by national and UNICEF funds and utilized WHO technical assistance.
